We aim to start each competition 15 minutes after the check in closes. The format will be one round of poules with all fencers promoted to the direction elimination (DE) round. In order to ensure the smooth running of the competition and the opportunity to fence, we may combine categories by age (U12/U14 or U16/U18) and/or gender for the poules and/or DE. Fencers will be advised of the planned format by email and on the day.
Equipment:
In the U12 & U14 competitions the maximum blade sizes are: Foil – size 3, Epee – size 2 and Sabre – size 2. Lame bibs and mask wires are not required for foil in these age groups. 350N or 800N plastron are allowed.
In the U16 & U18 events, size 5 blades will be used throughout. Lame bibs and mask wires will be required for foil. 800N plastron only.
It’s recommended that everyone fencing in the women’s categories wear rigid chest protection (shaped or flat) from the age of ten or from the onset of puberty if earlier. FIE standard chest protectors (those with an additional soft layer for foil) are not required for any fencer at this competition but may be worn.
The safety of all kit, including masks and gloves, will be visually checked by referees – masks with 2 rear safety systems are not required but all masks must be worn securely.
